The Time Has Come!

The 2015-16 season is upon us. This week marks the first week of official practice. The Northland College Men’s Hockey team opened up a week of hard work with a 2 hour skate on Monday and Tuesday.

Mondays practice consisted of alot of hard work from the boys with almost an hour of battle drills. The first full contact practice allowed the coaching staff to evaluate not only the technical aspects of each players game but also the physical strength and durability of each player. An hour plus of hard hitting tough battles ensured the players will be ready for not only the intra squad game on October 24th, but also the opening weekend game on Friday October 30th at the BACC.

Thursday afternoons practice was a day with a little more flow. The boys warmed up with some quick shooting drills and jumped right into 1 vs 1 and 2 vs 1 drills. The practice was kept at a high intensity and the boys are all battling for the 20 roster spots available the game against UW-Superior.

Head Coach Seamus Gregory and Assistant Mike Lennon are both looking forward to the rest of the week of practice and are excited for the upcoming intra squad scrimmage this Saturday. The Northland College Hockey Team would like to invite all fans to the scrimmage on the 24th and look forward to seeing you there.

  1. Jesse, this is not really an opinion post – so lost a few points for that. I like reading about practice – possibly it’s more interesting if you include details on what are the team’s strengths? What are their weaknesses? How do you improve? What are the characteristics of the other team. Simple is fine – but general is not. More details, please!

  2. This is a really interesting blog post. It’s great to hear that everyone is working so hard so they can make the roster. It would be nice for you to go deeper into each of the players skill sets and how the team as a whole works together.
